It’s been ages since I wrote about the Melbourne SharePoint User Group and offlate MOSSIG.

We had a very successful user group with over 30 attendees in Melbourne last night. Tim Wragg regaled us about MOSSIG history and re-introduced my self to the members, I talked about the merger between Melbourne SharePoint User Group with MOSSIG back in April. Combined our member base (ok, mailing list) is now a whopping 530.

As usuall we had a business preso followed by a technical presentation. Firstly we had Jonathan Lewis (IT Manager, Microsoft Australia) present on the SharePoint 2007 deployment within Microsoft. We got a sneak peak at MSW (Microsoft’s Intranet) as well as ITWeb and HRWeb (or rahter Andrew Lowson’s HRWeb as Jonathan was using Andrews PC for demos.).

The second speaker was my collegue Joshua Tan (Consultant, Unique World) who presented an overview of Project Server 2007 and its new features. His presentation had a record number of audience questions, at least one per attendee, which Joshua answered and mastered on the spot to great applause.
Congratulations to the MOSSIG board and thanks again to the speakers and offcourse the attendees for showing up in great numbers.
